Event Description

Bayyil Abdul Nasar IAS is a 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Kerala cadre, currently serving as the Special Secretary for the Fisheries Department. His life represents one of India's most powerful "rags-to-riches" examples of determination and resilience. After tragically losing his father at the age of five, extreme poverty forced his mother to place him in an orphanage, where he spent 13 years. Determined to fund his own education, he balanced his schooling with countless odd jobs starting from the age of ten—working as a hotel cleaner, a newspaper delivery boy, a tuition teacher, and a telephone operator.

Summary

. He began his journey in public service as a junior employee in the Kerala Health Department in 1994, working his way up to become a Deputy Collector by 2006. After being recognized as Kerala's Best Deputy Collector in 2015, he was formally promoted and inducted into the IAS cadre in 2017. He reached a career pinnacle in 2019 when he was appointed the District Collector of Kollam.
