Sao Chang College, erstwhile called Tuensang College was named after Late Sao Chang, the then Minister for Transport & Communication and PHED, Government of Nagaland. The cherished aspiration for higher education of the people saw its light with a humble beginning as 'Night College' (Arts) in 1973 at a designated temporary building at Tuensang town. To accommodate the increasing enrolment of students seeking for higher education within the District, the college was elevated to a regular day-shift college. The college was taken over by the Government of Nagaland in April 1983. In its march towards a greater horizon, the degree level of science stream was introduced in 2005. Shifted in the year 1996, the college now has its own permanent campus at a distance of about 9 kilometres away from town. Located amidst splendid and lofty mountain ranges and a pervading atmosphere of serenity, the college is ideal and conducive to be a centre of higher learning. The college is co-educational. It imparts education in the Arts and the Science stream at the degree level. It is affiliated to the Nagaland University.
